MATCH WEEK 31: FANDANGO BACK IN FLIGHT AS SPACE SUFFER
Should have kept my mouth shut. Last week I reported on how Clem Fandango's lead at the top of the Overall League had been reduced six weeks in a row, so of course this week Matt Woodmansey's boys re-open the gap. While Clem were having a decent enough week with 75 points - inspired by 'keeper Arijanet Muric with 17 - Watch This Space had an absolute Nightmare with only two teams performing worse than their 25. Manager Eloise Willingham was the master of her own downfall. One transfer for the week saw Emil Krafth brought in and made captain for -6 points. Krafth replaced Diogo Dalot (9 points). Elsewhere, Eloise chose Dean Henderson in goal (-5) ahead of Neto (12), and also left out Amadou Onana (13), Jack Harrison (8) and Ben Brereton Diaz (9). With those three in for Tyrick Mitchell (-5), Krafth and Jefferson Lerma plus Neto between the posts, Space would be 57 points better off and closer again to top spot - plus the points for whoever replaced Krafth as captain. That said, if Eloise hadn't signed Krafth she probably would have given Mitchell the armband... Watch This Space slip to 3rd - it's the first time they have been out of the top two since Match Week 7 and it means Fandango have new primary challengers in Such A Good Feline. Matt's lead, down to 19 points last week, is now 45.
HATTERS TRIUMPH AGAIN
It's a fair bet that Hammer Hatters will finish the season with more Team of the Week trophies on the mantelpiece than the rest of us - they make it seven with 103 points this time out. That's three more TotW awards than anyone else. A perfect captain pick saw Daiki Hashioka inspire, earning 38 points for Hatters. Just 2 points back with 101, Swiffer played a Captain Joker... with just Monday's match to play, Andrew White was set to gain a disappointing 9 points for the Joker. Up stepped Jordan Pickford with a masterful 24 point performance as Everton went down 6-0 at Chelsea, earning Swiffer 48.
